Set of Write-On/ Wipe-Off Dice (for course adoption)
Material Details
How can I use it in a course?
- throughout the semester, direct students to create a mini-lesson based on the language acquisition or research-base you are teaching utilizing the dice as the student material for the lesson
- throughout the semester, direct students to practice or apply a concept with the dice asking students to discuss or role-play different levels of language learners
- model a strategy using the dice then ask pairs or small groups to modify it for different language learners (e.g. by proficiency level, country of origin etc.)
- as a final course project ask students to use the dice and supplementary materials to create a differentiated unit of study that they can present at the end of the course.
- assign students to create an original ESL/ELL teaching strategy or explain a language learning concepts using the dice as an example and video themselves and post this to YouTube as part of a professional portfolio and/or as a ELL/ESL teaching bank.
The video below gives a variety of research-based ways to use the dice - model the strategies in your course - or use the video as a resource for students to start brainstorming strategies with the dice.
